In Memory of Abie Abraham

July 31, 1913 -  March 22, 2012

When General MacArthur heard of the Death March and the atrocities of the prison camps, he was hurt and sad.  He wanted to give the story to the press.

However, the powers in Washington forbad the release of any details of the prison-of-war atrocities.  They feared American public opinion would demand greater reaction against Japan.  They wanted Europe out of the way first.

This is what one might call a disarming slogan of a type of censorship which can be a menace to the free press and a threat to liberty.

General MacArthur personally requested Abie Abraham to return to Bataan and locate the graves  of the lost soldiers in Bataan.

General MacArthur, said Abie Abraham owed it to the Mothers and his comrades.
